EVANSVILLE, IN – Deaconess Hospital has been named a 2005/2006 Consumer Choice Award winner by National Research Corporation (NRC). The award identifies hospitals that healthcare consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image in 180 markets throughout the U.S.

According to NRC, of the 3,000 hospitals named by consumers in the study, the winning facilities rank highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), as defined by the U.S. Census. Deaconess was named the Consumer Choice Award winner for the Evansville MSA.

“Deaconess is proud to receive this award,” said Linda White, president and CEO of Deaconess Health System. “It validates the hard work our employees are doing to provide very good health care to our community.”

Recognized as an innovative leader in the area of healthcare performance measurement, NRC annually honors the top-rated facilities based on consumer responses from a nationally syndicated study of more than 200,000 households. Award winners were announced in the current issue of Modern Healthcare magazine.
