GE workers honored

More than 100 inventors, scientists and engineers at the Mount Vernon, Ind., GE Advanced Materials plant will be honored today for their numerous patents.
The workers represent about 10 percent of the GE work force at the Mount Vernon facility who hold at least one patent. Twelve employees hold at least 20 patents and two of those hold more than 60 patents.
In recognition of their accomplishments, Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel and Mount Vernon Mayor Rosemary Knowles have named today "GE Advanced Materials Innovation Day."
A reception and dinner for the inventors was held at the Red Geranium Conference Center in New Harmony, Ind.
This is the first event kicking off GE's 45th anniversary at Mount Vernon. The celebration with culminate with a Sept. 10 event at the courthouse square in Mount Vernon.
