After decades of dedicated service to Harrison County, Darrell Voelker has officially retired from his role as Executive Director of the Harrison County Economic Development Corporation. Darrell’s leadership and impact on the region’s economic landscape are difficult to overstate. Since joining the EDC in 2005—and following 18 years leading the Chamber of Commerce of Harrison County—Darrell has been a steadfast advocate for business growth, workforce development, and community advancement.

Throughout his career, Darrell has served in numerous leadership roles at the regional and state level. He was President of the Indiana Economic Development Association, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Executives, the South Central Indiana Economic Development Region, and the Indiana Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees). He has also served on the boards of Southern Indiana Works and the Ohio River Scenic Byway, among others. His tireless commitment to collaboration, his deep knowledge of the region, and his passion for Harrison County will leave a lasting legacy.

A proud graduate of Bellarmine University, Darrell also completed the U.S. Chamber Institute for Organization Management and is a Purdue Certified Master Gardener. He and his wife, Sheryl, live in Lanesville and are the proud parents of two daughters.

In the wake of Darrell’s retirement, RJL Solutions has been brought on to serve as the interim Local Economic Development Organization (LEDO) for Harrison County. In this role, RJL will help guide the organization through the hiring process for its next executive director and lead a strategic planning process to reignite the county’s economic development vision. We are grateful for Darrell’s many years of service and look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundation he helped create.
Please join us in thanking Darrell for his incredible contributions and wishing him the very best in his well-earned retirement.
