The region was awarded $15 million from the state’s READI program, intended to accelerate projects that will enhance the area’s quality of life, and increase competitiveness for economic growth.
Through this initiative, the state will encourage neighboring counties, cities and towns to partner to create a shared vision for their future, mapping out the programs, initiatives and projects that are critical for them to retain talent today and attract the workforce of tomorrow.

Regional Opportunity Initiatives
The Indiana Uplands region was awarded $30 million in Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) 1.0 funds from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation in 2021.
This transformational statewide initiative is fostering regional collaboration and strategic investments to make Indiana a magnet for talent and economic growth.
