JASPER – Kimball Electronics, headquartered in Jasper, was named as one of Indiana’s Best Places to Work in Manufacturing by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

The 2023 list includes 17 companies that demonstrate the highest levels of employee satisfaction and engagement in the workplace.

“We are honored and thrilled to be recognized as one of the 2023 Indiana Best Places to Work in Manufacturing. For 62 years we have known Kimball Electronics Jasper is a great place to work, now the rest of Indiana knows!” said Sue Habig, Human Resources Manager, Kimball Electronics Jasper

As part of the application process, Kimball Electronics described its practices for creating a culture where employees are valued.

“Our employees know they are a part of a culture that allows them to share in the company’s success through personal, professional and financial growth.  Our people are the company.  We recognize that our employees are our biggest asset and are essential to meeting our goals.  We promote a culture that ensures the development of our long-term talent pipeline,” read the application.

Kimball also recognizes personal achievements. Employees receive years of service pins for each milestone of employment. Kimball also has a 35-year luncheon and a 40, 45, & 50 year milestone dinner where employees can invite their family/friends to attend. In July, the company had a dinner and bingo party for employees, retirees and a guest.

Birthdays are recognized with a signed card from the department manager and two $2 bills. The Kimball Kudos program lets employees highlight a co-worker who has demonstrated the company’s guiding principles. Opportunities to volunteer in the Dubois County community are also provided.

“We have many tremendous employers in the state, so it’s great to see more and more companies take part in this effort to evaluate their workplace cultures and gain the recognition they deserve,” says Indiana Chamber President Kevin Brinegar. “These companies consistently demonstrate to their employees how much they value their contributions.”

Eligibility criteria

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Indiana Best Places to Work in Manufacturing. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process, the Employer Assessment, was worth approximately 20% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process, the Employee Feedback Survey, was worth approximately 80% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings.

The final rankings will be announced at an awards ceremony Dec. 13.
