Economic Development – Elmer Buchta Technology Center

November 18 – 22 is Global Entrepreneurship Week, a week dedicated to celebrating, educating, and connecting entrepreneurs all over the world! Each year around the globe, this week invites entrepreneur support organizations to host events and workshops that directly support those in our communities who have developed their passion into purpose, bringing economic life and support to our communities. This week (November 18 – 22, 2024) the Elmer Buchta Technology Center in Petersburg, Indiana hosted several events for all age groups inviting everyone to come together in celebration of the spirit of the entrepreneur.

Monday, November 18, the week officially kicked off with a beautiful proclamation provided by the City of Petersburg Mayor, RC Klipsch. Our mayor, an innovative leader and former entrepreneur himself, helped to honor the significance of this remarkable week of events with an official proclamation. Coffee and light refreshments were available for the morning’s special event. Tuesday, November 19, the Tech Center opened its doors to anyone looking to learn more about coworking and try a day working out of the state-of-the art facility at no cost. Small business owners, solo entrepreneurs, and non-profit directors were a few that took advantage of the event.

The week continued with events inviting students, teachers, and entrepreneur support organizations (ESO) like AgriNovus Indiana and the StartedUp Foundation for an in-person innovation workshop. Wednesday evening, high school students and teachers from Pike Central High School visited the Tech Center to enjoy a 2-hour facilitated workshop supporting students’ ideas that could become profitable businesses and make significant impacts on their community’s quality of life.

Friday, the week of celebration concluded with a special lunch and networking event called the Coworking Celebration. An annual event established by regional coworking space managers designed to bring like-minded individuals together to connect over coworking spaces, businesses, talents, and more. Each year the event is held at a different coworking space in the southwest Indiana region to help more people visit different spaces and connect with other neighboring communities. This year the Elmer Buchta Technology Center was the host site after last year’s event at The Pantheon in Vincennes, Indiana.
