SOUTHWEST, INDIANA – Southwest Development Council (SWIDC) is a proud member of the Transatlantic Business and Investment Council (TBIC). TBIC is a membership organization for local and regional U.S. Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) to market themselves to potential investors from Europe by means of an extensive membership network as well as events designed to connect EDOs with potential investors and multipliers from Europe. The TBIC Community & Corporate Member network offers a unique opportunity to become part of a dynamic and strong platform of U.S. communities in Europe. The main reasons for the membership include a stronger exposure in Europe, access to project information through our FDI & RFI mailing list and easy access to various site selection consultants on our Advisory Council, and access to all TBIC events to actively connect and meet with potential investors.
SWIDC attended the TBIC Annual Transatlantic Business & Investment Conference as a key opportunity to showcase the region to international investors, site selectors, and fellow EDOs. In 2025, the conference was held for the first time in Chicago, Illinois, and brought together 100+ attendees for a full day of networking, expert panels, and hands-on strategy sessions. SWIDC President, Ashley Willis stated “Our southwest Indiana region has a lot to offer new business and industry. We have a heritage of working with European companies and this is an important part of business attraction. Duke Energy has been a partner in our regional efforts to attract foreign direct investment. Strong relations with our European FDI partners are critical to success in economic development.” Throughout the year, TBIC also hosts webinars, member meetups, and inbound delegations from Europe, offering additional visibility for the SWIDC region.
