Tell City, IN – October 21st, 2025 – On Thursday, October 9, more than 200 Perry County eighth-grade students spent the day exploring local industries and discovering real-world career pathways during the 2025 Tour of Opportunities.

Students from Cannelton City Schools, Perry Central Community School Corporation, and Tell City-Troy Township Schools toured several of Perry County’s leading employers — ATTC Manufacturing, Inc., Waupaca Foundry, and Webb Wheel — as well as the Ivy Tech Tell City Career and Technology Center.

This hands-on event offered students an inside look at the many rewarding careers available right here at home — from advanced manufacturing and skilled trades to healthcare, construction, banking, non-profits, and more. At each stop, students were able to meet professionals, see technology in action, and better understand how their classroom learning connects to future career success.

At Ivy Tech, students rotated through an interactive career booths featuring a variety of local employers, including: Lincoln Hills Development Corporation, Hoosier Hills Credit Union, Perry County Public Library, PSC Fiber, Perry County Memorial Hospital, Parker Meggitt, Advanced Rehabilitation Inc., Tell City Electric Department, Southwest Indiana Workforce Board, Construction Engineering Solutions, LLC, Boyd Company, KK Integrated Logistics, Shoe Sensation Tell City, and the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC).

“The goal of this event is to spark curiosity and help students envision their future right here in Perry County,” said Whitney Zellers, Workforce Development Specialist for the Perry County Development Corporation (PCDC). “By giving them firsthand exposure to local careers, we’re helping them see that meaningful and high-wage opportunities exist within their own community.”

The Tour of Opportunities is an annual event organized by PCDC in collaboration with local schools and employers, serving as a key component of their ongoing workforce development efforts. Through events like this, PCDC continues to bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring students are informed, inspired, and ready for their next step.

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all of the employers, educators, and community partners who made this year’s Tour of Opportunities a success. Their dedication and enthusiasm help strengthen Perry County’s future workforce and highlight why this community is such a great place to live, learn, and work.
